Our Story

 

We are friends who enjoy the small community of Detroit and with our public service and volunteer experience; we feel at home at Detroit Lake. 

When we came across this property, we had a vision of having a home away from home and a place to be with friends and family while getting more involved in the community of Detroit with the years to come. We have other commitments in life and like many, we are part timers to Detroit therefore we embraced the idea of sharing our property with others who will bring tourism to the City of Detroit.

 

In September 2019, we purchased an A-Frame Cabin with the goal of providing a lodging opportunity to guests year-round with all the amenities.  A perfect location to stay with a short drive for recreational activities such as snowmobiling, snow shoeing, skiing, winter or summer ATV trails and boating in the summer.   When the evening air kicks in, enjoy a campfire and socializing with friends with firewood provided.

In September of 2020; we lost the A-Frame cabin to the Lions Head Wildfire.  Along with friends and neighbors, we took on the challenge of rebuilding.  It was a long two-year process of navigating the route of rebuilding.  We are pleased to announce that as of October 2022, we are now re open for lodging at The De at Detroit Lake.
